i am zahra zahmatkesh ...
... a dedicated Sociology graduate student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, with a strong background in English language education, social research, and community engagement. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Hakim Sabzevari University in Iran, and I have extensive experience as an English teacher, IELTS instructor, and teacher trainer.
Before starting my graduate studies, I worked for several years as an English teacher and trainer, helping students and professionals improve their communication skills. I also hold multiple professional certificates in IELTS teaching, teacher training, teaching through media, organizational design, and recruitment and selection. My professional journey also includes three years as a massage therapist, working with athletes, elderly clients, and individuals with physical conditions.
My academic interests center on migration, gender, and identity. My current research focuses on Iranian women’s identity transformation after immigration, particularly how social media platforms like Instagram influence self-expression and cultural adjustment. This work reflects my commitment to exploring the intersections of culture, gender, and digital communication.
I am passionate about supporting immigrant communities, advancing cultural understanding, and promoting inclusive education. I bring a combination of academic expertise, cross-cultural communication skills, and hands-on teaching experience to every project I undertake.
